Early Samurai

The Early Samurai are the first DBA army I have painted. I purchased the figures second hand for £5 which I though was a pretty good deal. All the figures are Essex miniatures.

EDIT : It may be worth noting that I had read somewhere that the early samurai did not have banners. Unfortunately I was dead set on them having loads of banners so I decided to ignore the historical facts and did them anyway.

Click on the pictures for an larger view.

First up is the the whole army in all its glory.

Cavalry including the generals unit (which is easily spotted as it has 2 banners)

One of the Cavalry units.

Next are the Auxilia units.

And heres the Bow.

And now for a side view and a top down view to show off the banners and basing.

The figures were painted using the cheap acrylics found in most hobby shops.

The bases are 2mm MDF purchased online somewhere. After gluing on the figures the bases are then covered in polyfilla. when dry cover the base with PVA and dip in sand. Paint the entire base black. then drybrush various browns then glue rocks, static grass and clumps of field grass.

The banners were downloaded, altered, shrunk, then printed out on normal paper. Glue two opposite side together make then quite sturdy. Open out a paper clip, paint black then superglue banner. Finally paint the edge of the banner red to match. Superglue to figure, one per base except the general which has two.

Excellent !

Next up should be the Sung Chinese which are on theior way to completion. The HoTT army(ies) are done but awaiting upload.
